NOTE: Everyone interested in participating in the chamber music program *including past participants* must audition. You may audition as an individual or as part of a pre-formed ensemble.
Students are encouraged to audition in Autumn Quarter to play in Autumn, Winter or Spring Quarter.
If you are interested in auditioning for a chamber music placement (MUSIC 171 or 171Z), as an INDIVIDUAL or as part of a PRE-FORMED ensemble, you are in the right place!
Follow these easy steps:
1. Sign up for an audition time using this form. (Audition time slots fill up quickly. Please sign up for an early time if possible.)
2. Auditions take place in Braun Music Center room 204. Arrive for your audition a few minutes early, tuned and ready to play. If auditioning as a preformed group, the ENTIRE group must be present. Complete one of the short audition information forms you will see outside the door to the audition room and bring this form in with you to your audition. (One per individual applicant OR one per preformed group)
3. Wait outside room 204. We will call you when it’s your turn.
4. During your 7-minute audition you should expect to perform excerpts from two contrasting works, or other repertoire which best demonstrates your current skill level.
Results will be posted/emailed before October 2.
***Placement is at the discretion of the SLSQ and dependent on several factors including the availability of suitably matched partners and coach availability.***
We aim to make chamber music auditions here at Stanford as “user-friendly” as possible. We are a genial group and the audition process should be relatively painless.
