Chinese Literacy Workshop Series
As part of our CIWA Chinese Literacy Project, the Confucius Institute is pleased to invite world language teachers in the area to join us for a series of lectures designed to equip K-12 teachers with methods and tools that help strengthen the teaching of Chinese literacy in their school curricula.

Guest speakers: Dr. Keiko Koda, Carnegie Mellon University & Dr. Wenling Li, Trident University International

Through this series of workshops, teachers will learn how to:

-- Understand performance-based reading assessment and use it to inform classroom teaching (Koda)
-- Integrate literacy instruction while fostering critical and creative thinking skills and communication skills (Li)

The morning lecture will be held in English, while the afternoon lecture will be held in Mandarin Chinese.

-- Lecture One (Dr. Keiko Koda): 9:00 - 12:00 in UW Gowen Hall 301
-- Lecture Two (Dr. Wenling Li): 1:30 - 4:30) in UW Denny Hall 159
Location: University of Washington, Gowen Hall 301 and Denny Hall 159
Cost: Free, plus 3 free clock hours from WAFLT for each workshop
