Volunteers welcome! We have several areas where you can share your talents and interests. Our board and committees work very hard to bring you great titles, programs and literary events throughout the year. We welcome fresh eyes and ideas while having fun. Please check a committee that interests you.

Book Selection - Using many book review sources and excerpts from Good Reads to the Wall Street Journal and following these guidelines: 1. Books published in the current year. 2. Books approximately 350 pages of text. 3. Balance of non- fiction and fiction. 4. Balance of topics and sensitive to explicit language, politics, sex, and violence. The committee meets a few times a year and communicates via email on titles they will read for selection purposes.

Book Discussion - Arrange for book discussion leaders and contribute to choosing titles for book discussion.

Information Technology- Maintains and updates Book Club of Grosse Ile website, posts events and board documents to website, Facebook, facilitates Zoom meetings when necessary (crucial during Covid)

Hospitality - Coordinates with the Programs Committee to secure venues, provide refreshments, invitations and a welcoming presence at our events.

Programs - Vital to the social aspect of our club, the programs committee looks for speakers with literary background and local interests.

Circulation Committee - Once our roster for the new passing year is established, the circulation committee works to get the passing schedule into three groups: North, South, and Central. Books are randomly assigned to each member, and then the passing twice a month goes forward.

Finally and perhaps most importantly, we need a vice president who is in charge of our spring trips for 2 years and then moves up to the president position for 2 years.

Dues - Active Members: $50 Associate Members: $25

All members are invited to programs, discussions and the spring trip. Active members receive a hardcover book and participate in passing books, associate members do not pass the books.
