Game Leader Application TEXAS
Dear Coaches & Assistant Coaches,

Thank you for expressing an interest in serving as a Game Leader in this year’s National Mathematics
Pentathlon® Academic Tournament. Serving as a Game Leader is a rewarding experience in many
ways.
The Responsibilities for Game Leaders Include:
• Knowing the basic and tournament rules for ONE game very well and responding to questions
about that game from Game Monitors on the day of the tournament.
• Participation as a Game Monitor in at least one prior tournament (exception Division 1)
• Attendance at a recent Game Monitor Orientation Session
• Contacting Game Monitors prior to competition to ensure they know the game, as well as the date,
time and place of the tournament. All Game Monitor information and emails will be provided by the Pentathlon
Institute office.
• Participation in the Essential Game Leader Meeting and tournament preparation on the Friday
before the tournament. After game set-up is complete, all Game Leaders participate in an
essential meeting with the Tournament Director to review important tournament procedures and
arrangements.
• Arriving at the tournament site the day of tournament at 7:15am to meet with co-leaders and Game
Monitors volunteering in your game area.
• Assisting with the Award Ceremony.
• SMILE A LOT AND HAVE FUN.
