In order to request a Chromebook for use at home during the 2020/2021 school year, please review and submit this form. All students will be assigned a Chromebook for use at school and will have the option of bringing it back and forth between home and school on their assigned cohort days (Monday & Tuesday or Thursday & Friday) once this form is complete! Students may choose to use their personal chromebook when working virtually from home and leave their assigned chromebook at school.

If a student receives a chromebook, they will be expected to participate in virtual learning on their 3 virtual learning days at home.

The mission of the Gaston County Schools Chromebook take home initiative is to provide Chromebooks to students who do not have a device at home. Costs:There is no cost to receive the device. Students are responsible for the cost of a lost or missing Chromebook, charger, or case, and for damage beyond normal use. Repairs will be on a case by case basis and could range up to full replacement of the item. Lost, stolen or questionable damage will be reviewed by the administration on a case-by-case basis to determine fees. Be Responsible:No stickers or writing allowed on the device or accessories which might accompany the Chromebook unless given permission.Follow all procedures when transporting the device. Students must take measures to protect the device from damage or theft.At no time shall the device be used for unlawful or inappropriate activities.Students are not allowed to let others use or be in possession of their assigned device. Be Respectful:Students must follow the Gaston County Schools Technology Responsible Use Policy (Policy Code: 3230/7370) at all times while using district-issued devices.Violators of the Technology Responsible Use or items stated in this document will be addressed by the school administration to determine the proper course of action.When logging in with a GCS account and/or using a GCS device, students will be filtered according to CIPA and COPPA regulations. Additionally, records and activity may be monitored and are subject to investigation by authorized district personnel.Liability The intent of this program is for Gaston County School students educational use only. Should another user violate this intent, GCS will not be held liable for any issues arising as a result. Additionally, Gaston County Schools will not be held liable for any issues arising from non-compliance of the district’s Technology Responsible Use Policy. * *
