Volunteering Sign-up for Detroit Community Fridge

Mission Statement: The Detroit Community Fridge is a mutual aid project started by the people for the people. It centers radical love and sustainability above all. The main goal of the fridge/ network of fridges is to bring food to those who are disadvantaged in their access to food as well as eliminate waste from areas with a surplus. It is also intended to encourage collaboration and caring for fellow community members, regardless of background.


What am I expected to do as a volunteer?
Volunteers will check on the fridge at least once a day to complete the assigned tasks and reach out to the point person who will have their number listed on the side of the fridge. The duties will be outlined below:

1. Reorganizing the dry goods, fridge, and freezer
2. Going over expiration dates and checking produce
3.Cleaning any visible dirt in the fridge
4. Take trash to Colombo’s across for daily trash take out/recycling*
5. Taking a picture of contents and sending to the point person that week

*PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ROCKY’S TRASH CAN FULL OR ANY LITTER!
