Kūkulu Kumuhana O Anahola presents our FREE Anahola ʻOhana Movie Nights. All are welcome to join in our free activities, dinner and a movie with popcorn and shave ice. Disconnect from the ipads and cell phones for a few hours and relax with family and friends.
THE MOVIE: OCEAN with DAVID ATTENBOROUGH ~ Aside from this movie being nominated for 10 prestigous film awards and winning 5 of them, we are very proud that one of Anaholaʻs own, Pelika Andrade had a significant role in the cultural guidance of this segment. She is joined by another conservation leader, Aulani Wilhelm, who narrates the segment referring to the Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. Mehana Vaughn composed and recorded a traditional oli for this segment.
KANIKAPILA TEAM: Enjoy the kanikapila sounds of Aunty Ipo Kahaunaele and friends. No shame if you know the songs they sing and want to share a hula. Itʻs always a blessing to see who shows up to hula with them.
KŌNANE GAMES & ARTS & CRAFT ACTIVITY: Come and learn how to play kōnane from Uncle John Kaohelauliʻi or find a partner and sharpen your kōnane skills. We will also have a printing craft available. Supplies will be provided.

CROSSROADS CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP: This team has been serving at our movie nights for 13 years supporting with setup, breakdown, food preparation, serving and clean up.
HALE ʻŌPIO KAUAʻI: Meet Val Cabreira and their team who will be providing valuable resources to help our youth grow through mentorship and life skills training to education and treatment. Their programs support our keiki and `ōpiʻo every step of the way. They have been serving youth for over 40 years, starting as a group home and growing into 20+ programs that support over 500 young people annually.
HAWAIIAN CHECKERS.COM ~ KŌNANE GAME (PAʻANI): Come and learn how to play kōnane or you can sharpen your skills. Kōnane is an ancient and traditional Hawaiian strategy board game that is often compared to checkers, though it involves completely different rules and win conditions. KOHOKUOLA FOUNDATION: Meet Kawena Bagano, Founder of Kohokuola Foundation. key initiatives include: Ensuring that individuals with an increased risk of suicide feel supported * Reducing risk factors for those experiencing suicidal thoughts, depression, and/or anxiety * Helping individuals reach their full potential through skill-building, career guidance, and mentoring * Providing brief intervention for those experiencing suicidal thoughts * Offering sponsorship and mentoring to individuals seeking treatment.

PREVENT SUICIDE KAUAʻI TASK FORCE: Meet Maya Tayal, Chairperson of our task force. Suicide is preventable! The task force focuses on HOPE, HELP & HEALING to reduce suicide and mental health stigmas.
SUNSET CINEMA: Mahalo Chris Gamby for bringing us the fantastic movie screen each month for our enjoyment. He has been a faithful servant to our community since KKOA started its first movie night in 2009.
YWCA: With their office in Anahola now, we are fortunate that they will be bringing their resources to provide assistance with racial justice, and violence prevention and intervention in response to sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse. They seek to eliminate family violence in all of its forms, provide treatment to those who have been traumatized by violence, and provide the skills necessary for individuals who were once violent to live productive and caring lives.

- Where: Anahola Clubhouse, 3900 Kawelo St (enter from Puka O Kalalea St)
- Schedule:
- 5 PM. Kōnane paʻani, "Ōlelo Hawaiʻi scavenger hunt and visit resource tables
- 6:30 PM Meaʻai & mele from Aunty Ipo Kahaunaele and friends
- 7:15PM or when dark: Movie: OCEAN with DAVID ATTENBOROUGH
SAFETY MEASURES:
Children must be seated with you during the movie. The playground is off-limits once the movie begins due to lack of supervision.
PROTOCOLS:
Be considerate of others, especially kūpuna. Avoid spreading illness. This is a drug & alcohol-free event.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Hydro flasks (water cooler available) We will not have any plastic bottles with water.
- Beach chairs, mat, or blanket: Please bring your own comfort items.
- Umbrella, jacket, flashlight (just in case it rains)
