I am inviting you to take a survey for research. This survey is completely voluntary. There are no negative consequences if you don’t want to take it. If you start the survey, you can always change your mind and stop at any time. 

My name is Coyt Collins, I am a student at Boswell high school. I am in a class called AP Capstone Research. 

Why is this topic important: This is important because as time has moved forward, America has become a far more politically polarized nation. I would like to know how such a politically polarized environment has affected those who have grown up in it.    

What will the survey ask: The first part of this survey will be some basic questions that will help me determine what side of the political spectrum that you lean more towards. The second half will be more about how you interact with people with and without the knowledge that they are on the other side of the political spectrum.

Risk: The only risk with my survey is that politics is a very controversial topic. My survey will be completely anonymous and after the survey is concluded all information will be completely deleted. 

How long will I hold on to the information: I will only hold on to this information as long as I need it and once my research report is complete, I will delete all of the gathered information.
