See the next three questions for descriptions of MAPPING / LABORATORY / GEOPHYSICAL projects.
If your project is based on geological MAPPING, where is your mapping area and what scale(s) of mapping do you intend to use?
A  geological mapping project will be based on about 1 week of field mapping (training given in GEOL344), followed by analysis of samples and field data. A typical GEOL302/304 map will be at 1:10 000 scale.
If your project is based on LABORATORY analysis, briefly describe, in no more than two sentences, the type of analyses you intend to undertake and the overall aim of the project.
A laboratory project could involve a wide range of laboratory techniques, perhaps following collection of your own samples in the field. However, this type of project does not involve significant field mapping. Examples might include a geochemistry project, a thin-section based project, or a project based on GIS analysis.
If your project is based on GEOPHYSICAL analysis, briefly describe, in no more than two sentences, the type of analyses you intend to undertake and the overall aim of the project.
A geophysical project involves collection, processing, and interpreting geophysical data (e.g. marine or land-based seismic surveys, paleomagnetic datasets).
