To the Parents/Guardians of Incoming 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th Grade Students:
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we need to know if your student will be bringing their own device to school in September. Ardsley High School offers students in grades 9-12 the option to participate in the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program.
All students are required to have a device for daily use in class and at home for learning purposes. We recognize that many high school students prefer to use their own laptops and encourage them to do so if it meets their learning needs. Please note that a smartphone is not considered a suitable 1:1 device for instructional purposes.
Students who do not opt-in to the BYOD program will be provided with a District Chromebook.
Please read the following information carefully. By participating in the BYOD program, it is agreed and understood that:
- Students who do not accept an Ardsley Chromebook are responsible for bringing their own charged and functional device every day to participate in classroom activities, complete assignments, and take state tests.
- Students must allow teachers to enable Classroom Orchestrator on their devices.
- Students must agree to the Acceptable Use Policy and Chromebook Usage Agreement.
- Students must log in to Chrome using their school email address.
- Tablet devices (e.g., iPads, Kindle Fires), smartphones, and gaming systems are not suitable for our learning environment.
- Assignments or tests will not be modified to accommodate issues with personal devices.
- The district will not provide technical support for personal devices.
- The district does not accept any liability for personal devices used at school. It is the student’s responsibility to properly care for and store their device while at school.
All families have the option to purchase insurance coverage for a school-issued Chromebook. To learn more about the coverage available for your student’s Chromebook, please refer to this link:Once students receive their device, families will have the option to purchase or renew insurance here: https://gpo.worthavegroup.com/ardsleyufsd.
