At every stage in my career, I was wrong about what would interest me and make me feel like I was having an impact. However, there are a few core principles I've followed that have led from one surprising role to the next, each one better than the last. Come judge for yourself whether I'm a lucky idiot, or managed to stumble into some wisdom that might be useful.

Mike is currently the general counsel and head of business and corporate development at Pinterest. He joined Pinterest in 2012 after seven and a half years working at Google, where he started in government relations, joined the legal team, and ended up managing the company's product and commercial lawyers. Prior to Google, Mike spent four years as counsel to the Judiciary Committee of the California State Senate and three years working on Capitol Hill as counsel to the U.S House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform.
