Curating Biennials: The Politics of Mediation
Register here for Curating Biennials: The Politics of Mediation, a panel sponsored by the Society of Contemporary Art Historians (SCAH) on the recent work of biennial curators Renata Cervetto (Berlin Biennale 11, 2020), Elia Alba (La Trienal - Estamos Bien, Museo del Barrio, 2021), and Lauren Mackler (Made in LA 2020, Hammer Museum, 2021). Among other topics, the conversation will explore how biennial curatorial practice mediates between institution and audience, its role in the valuation of local knowledges and memories, and the ways in which artwork and artist selection engage with contextual concerns.
