COMMUNICATIONS OFFICE INTERN
PurposeAn internship providing hands-on application of journalism and photography. The internship will also provide a knowledge of how the Communications department of the Virginia Conference of the UMC interacts with each department in the conference office.
Tasks-Writing articles for website and conference magazine, the Advocate, as needed. -Conducting interviews for social media, website and magazine.-Taking pictures as needed for website and magazine. -Helping implement marketing strategy for social media and planning for fall months. -Offering creative input for all marketing materials and publications. -Providing assistance to department for Annual Conference: taking pictures and taking ownership of publication of for all three days.
QualificationsRequired: • Proficiency with Microsoft Word• Proficiency with social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest• Familiarity with photography
Other Qualifications: • Familiarity with InDesign a plus
NEXT GENERATION MINISTRIES INTERN
PurposeAn internship providing opportunities to apply skills in communication, social media, event planning, and interpersonal relationships. The internship will also provide knowledge of the inner workings this ministry office, as well as understanding of how this ministry area connects to the overall mission of the church, both Conference wide and locally.
Tasks- Writing and scheduling social media posts in multiple platforms- Assisting with events: All God's Children Camp- Assist with promotion and planning of CALLED fall youth retreats- Research and update Next Gen Database- Assist with Annual Conference Youth Delegation (4 days of Annual Conference)- Develop surveys related to Next Gen Ministries- Assist in preparations for Annual Conference - Other tasks as assigned
QualificationsRequired: • Proficiency with Microsoft Office• Proficiency with social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest• Familiarity with Google Suite (docs, good drive, etc)• Ability to relate well to children and teenagers alike
Additional skills• Design skills (Canva, Photoshop, etc) are a plus
