-All: attend meetings on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m., brainstorm articles, participate in training activities, gauge feedback on paper, take Ken Tabacsko's Writing for the Media class if at all possible, editors return to campus orientation week
-Head editor: Learn through shadowing the responsibilities that the Editor-in-Chief fills with the end goal of taking over the position. Tasks include training staff, doing final edits before sending the paper to the printer, representing The Almanian before administrators and Student Congress and assisting all staffers in doing their job. This position may be dually held with any other position.
-Campus editor: perform final edits to campus section; produce campus section with InDesign on Sunday morning; prepare feedback for writers; write 1 or 2 stories a week
-Feature editor: perform final edits to feature section; produce feature section with InDesign on Sunday morning; prepare feedback for writers; write 1 or 2 stories a week
-Opinion editor: perform final edits to opinion section; produce opinion section with InDesign on Sunday morning; prepare feedback for the opinion writers; write 1 or 2 stories a week
-Sports editor: perform final edits to sports section; produce sports section with InDesign on Sunday morning; prepare feedback for the sports writers; write 1 or 2 stories a week
-Copy editor: edit the writers’ articles and make the majority of the necessary alterations by Saturday night; review pages before going to the printer on Sunday; prepare feedback for writers; write 1 or 2 stories a week
-Photo editor: organize photo coverage of campus events; select the best photos for each week’s edition, edit them, upload to Flickr by Saturday night
-Illustrator: produce 1-4 drawings and info graphics as commissioned by Editor-in-Chief and writers on a weekly basis, submit by Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
-Web editor: maintain and upload articles and corresponding photos onto The Almanian website and social media accounts by Monday night
-Business manager: attend Student Congress meetings; sell and design advertisements weekly; manage the budget
-Staff writer: conduct interviews and write an average of 2 articles by Friday night; communicate graphic needs to photo editor and/or illustrator *clarify in application if you are interested in sports writing
-Photographer: take quality photos of events on campus, as assigned, with appropriate equipment -Distribution manager: distribute each week’s issue on Monday morning at or before 8 a.m.
