Exhibit opening Summer 2024.
The Leelanau Historical Society is developing a community curated exhibit showcasing the history of Leelanau County’s beloved Sugar Loaf Mountain. We recognize the rich history and nostalgia that surrounds what once was Leelanau County’s largest employer and major form of year round entertainment. The fascination and use of this geographical feature goes back many generations and was a point of interest to early Leelanau settlers.
As we begin researching an exhibit honoring the sense of community, culture, and history surrounding this place, the Leelanau Historical Society is asking for the assistance from the public to discover and document the many artifacts (i.e. photographs, documents, 3D objects, clothing, souvenirs, lift tickets, written or audio memories etc.) that help illustrate the people and events that are connected to the Sugar Loaf mountain.
If you have something you would like to contribute to the Leelanau Historical Society's Sugar Loaf Collection please fill out the form below to the best of your ability. Please indicate in the form how you'd like your submission(s) to be used. An exhibit committee will review all entries and your artifacts/contributions may be selected and invited for inclusion in the upcoming Sugar Loaf Exhibition.
