Brief History of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on Friday, November 17, 1911, on the campus of Howard University. The fraternity’s cardinal principles are Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift. Omega men strive for excellence in all their endeavors and take great pride in helping others to make an impact on the community.
Purpose and Duties of Miss Omega Psi Phi The men of Omega Psi Phi have long been an influential force on the campus of Clemson University. But beside every good Omega Man there is a good woman. Traditionally on this campus, pageants are held, and a winner is chosen with no knowledge of that person other than her looks and her capability to answer a question. The purpose of the Miss Omega Psi Phi Scholarship Pageant is to showcase everything about its contestants, not just their looks. Miss Omega Psi Phi participants are chosen to represent the men of Omega. They are placed on a pedestal so that everyone in the community can recognize, just as the men of Omega have, this special person. We place high emphasis on friendship, academics, extracurricular activities, community service, as well as articulation of thoughts. In this pageant everyone's a winner because you were chosen, although a winner amongst the contestants will be selected based on the highest rank from the above-mentioned characteristics.
