As the Association of Chinese Americans Inc. (ACA) celebrates our 48th Annual Celebration Gala, we would like to celebrate our community members as well.
The Annual Celebration Banquet is a signature event of ACA where we gather together as a community to commemorate the year's accomplishments and continue to strive for further successes. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the difficult time we are currently facing, it is more important than ever to acknowledge our community members for their perseverance, resilience and hardwork. ACA is hosting our Annual Celebration Event virtually this year. The theme of our Gala is "Honoring Our Heroes – Courage Across Communities" and we would like to recognize community members who have worked tirelessly since March to bring relief and remedy to those adversely affected by this virus.
ACA would like your help to acknowledge various heroes within our community during this difficult time! We are looking for nominations for our Community Hero's Award. In order to be nominated, an individual must meet the following requirements:
1. Chinese or Asian Pacific American
2. A resident of Michigan
3. Demonstrated overcoming a challenge and/or performing meaningful work that impacts others during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as taking unique and essential actions to reduce fatalities or alleviating the challenges, pain and suffering caused by the pandemic.
As the nominator, we would like you to write about the challenges this individual has overcome and/or how this individual has contributed to our community at large. We want to hear from you why this individual should receive the Community Hero's Award. You have 500 words maximum to write a story that is telling of the passion this individual displays.
*Please be prepared to submit a photo or a video of the person you are nominating if the nominee is selected. We would like to recognize the person virtually at our Annual Celebration Banquet on Saturday, Oct 24th 2020 at 2pm. We would love for you and the nominee to join us that afternoon.
Nominations are due by 11:59 PM, Saturday, August 22nd, 2020. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Elinor Ho at
elinorho@yahoo.com or (586) 549-1488.
