This form is intended for junior students of NCC wishing to register their interest in learning a musical instrument as part of the "Class Instrumental" program.
WHAT IS THE PROGRAM?
While students are in years 4-6, they may join the "Class Instrumental" music program. They have the opportunity to learn violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, oboe, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone and orchestral percussion.
We are proud to offer the program at the cost of $425 for the year. Weekly group lessons, weekly ensemble rehearsals, and a loan instrument are all included. The loan instrument is provided to students in years 4 and 5, and those in year 6 are encouraged to source their own personal instrument. Instruments may be available to students in year 6, pending availability. Double bassists will have access to two instruments, one to permanently stay at home and one for use at school for lessons and rehearsals.
The program takes place on Thursdays. The junior school teachers allow time on Thursdays for the students to participate without missing out on other core learning.
Fees are administered early in the new year as part of school fees.
By now the students have been introduced to the instruments available in two ways. A demonstration by our tutors of each instrument was delivered in week 9 of term 3, and then students were able to personally try out the instruments in week 1 of term 4.
Please list THREE preferences of instruments to learn. Every effort will be made to honour your 1st preference. "First in best dressed" - the order of everyone's applications will be logged and honoured in assigning instruments to people.
This form is an expression of interest only. Instrumental assignments will be confirmed at the start of the new year to include you in the program, and to add the fees to your school fees.
