The Fletcher School Parents' Council 2024-2025 Volunteer Opportunities

We encourage parents to become engaged as a parent volunteer at The Fletcher School. Parents' Council hosts over 20 different events throughout the year, and we need your support! Please review the many volunteer opportunities below and indicate your interest in volunteering! A Parents' Council board member will be in touch with you as the event nears, or please feel free to contact Parents' Council President at parentscouncil@thefletcherschool.org with any questions.


ART EXHIBIT - Volunteer to set-up and breakdown the Art Exhibit for all K-12 students in March at our Book, Brushes, and Talent Event.

TALENT SHOW - Volunteer to help school staff plan, set up/decorate and take down as well as assist talent acts get ready before they take the stage for the Talent Show in March at our Book, Brushes and Talent Event. 

TALENT SHOW FAMILY DINNER - Volunteer to find caterer to order meals and distribute to families to eat at school before the talent show in March at our Book, Brushes, and Talent Event.

FAMILY SPIRIT MEAL NIGHTS - Volunteer to coordinate with a local restaurant in September, November, February and April for parents and students to meet and dine together.  

BINGO - Volunteer to help with this fun family event held in the school gym with school administrators.

BOOK FAIRS - Volunteer to set up/break down event, work the cash register and help students select books. 

BOWLING - Volunteer to help with check-in and hand out snacks during the bowling event.  

CONFERENCE TREATS FOR TEACHERS - Coordinate with division heads of Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools and create Sign-Up Genius for parents to send in treats to the front desk before conferences.

FACULTY/STAFF HOLIDAY MEAL AND GIFT - Volunteer to secure vendor to provide boxed meal and order gift cards to give to faculty and staff before the holidays in December. 

FACULTY/STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK - Volunteer to plan and coordinate a week long of surprises for our faculty/staff the first week in May including a luncheon and gifts. 

FALL FAMILY FESTIVAL - Volunteer to help set up and break down the event or volunteer for 30-60 minutes during the event to supervise activities (inflatables, cake walk, sign-in table, etc.) on a fall Sunday in October.

FAMILY SPIRIT OUTINGS AT PROFESSIONAL SPORTING EVENTS - Help coordinate dates with school administrators and Professional Sports outlets such Charlotte Checkers and Hornets (January/February) and/or Charlotte Football Club and Knights (May) to secure sections of seats for Fletcher families to buy tickets to attend team events to create community spirit. 

LOWER SCHOOL DANCE - Volunteer to assist with the dance for decorating, set-up, and take-down. This event is for Lower School students and requires 1 parent or guardian to attend with the student. The event is scheduled in October. We encourage Middle School and Upper School families to volunteer which allows Lower School families to attend the dance.   

MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCE - Volunteer to assist with the dance for decorating, set-up, and take-down. This event is scheduled in January. We encourage Lower School and Upper School families to volunteer which allows Middle School families to prepare for the dance with their student. 
 
UPPER SCHOOL PROM LIASION - Volunteer to assist upper school students with fundraising for Prom and assist with the dance for decorating, set-up, and take-down.

UPPER SCHOOL HOMECOMING DANCE LIASION - Volunteer to assist with the dance for decorating, set-up, and take-down.

SPIRIT WEAR - Throughout the school year, volunteer to sell Fletcher gear (shirts, magnets, seat cushions, and pompoms) at back to school orientation and school events like home volleyball and basketball games, encourage students and parents to wear Fletcher shirts/colors to waive signs to cheer Fletcher teams onto victory. 

GRADE PARENT - A parent volunteer is needed from each grade level to send communication throughout the school year to that grade's parents about school and Parents’ Council sponsored events via email/text.   

GENERAL VOLUNTEER - If you don’t know your availability but want to be contacted as opportunities arise, please sign up as a general volunteer. You will be put on the list and contacted as needed.

HEAD UP A COMMITTEE - work with a Parents' Council VP to assist with the planning of an event. Organize other volunteers to ensure a successful event.
