REHEARSAL CONFLICTS | Dancers are required to be present for ALL scheduled rehearsals once casting is announced. Dancers with important life events that may conflict with the season rehearsal calendar may request allowances at the discretion of the Artistic Director. Please list the date/time and nature of the conflict below. Conflicts cannot be accommodated in all cases and a very limited number will be allowed overall. Decisions will depend on the impact of the conflict on overall rehearsal time needed for the role(s), at what point in the production cycle the conflict will occur, and the nature of the conflict (wedding of a close family member, Senior Prom, etc.) We may take steps to verify outside activities. If the dancer cannot be cast for scheduling reasons, PYB will refund the dancer's participation fees minus the $20 audition fee. Please note: Conflicts during the final month of the rehearsal cycle cannot be accommodated. Once the rehearsal cycle begins, additional conflicts will NOT be considered and our "NO MISS" policy will be in effect. (See next agreement.) Please check your dancer’s calendar and outside commitments carefully. We will do our best to accommodate reasonable requests in order to welcome as many qualified dancers as possible to perform with PYB this season!
"NO MISS" REHEARSAL POLICY* AGREEMENT | Dancers are REQUIRED to be available for and to attend in person every scheduled rehearsal for which their roles are called once cast in the ballet, except in the case of a health emergency or death affecting an immediate family member (including grandparents) or sickness/hospitalization of the dancer.

*This policy is intended to benefit the dancers themselves, their peers, and the artistic director and staff. The presence of every dancer is required to effectively learn/practice choreography, patterns, and spacing in rehearsals. The absence of any one dancer disrupts the entire process. Attendance agreements help us condense the rehearsal period to a shorter time frame and make more efficient use of fewer rehearsal hours. Any dancer who misses a rehearsal under this policy will be removed from the production without a refund. Dancers may be reassigned as alternates at the discretion of the Artistic Director.

CASTING STATEMENT | Casting is like solving a puzzle. Many factors influence the final outcome, including technical and artistic skill, height (as suitable for a role and relative to other dancers suitable for the role), costume considerations—for example, whether dancers eligible for multiple roles have enough time to change from one costume to another, acting ability, consistency of attendance in regular ballet classes, etc. The number of PYB participants in each level/age group varies from year to year. Assigning one dancer to each and every role is a complicated task, especially when multiple dancers may be suitable for any given role. In this and every production, each participant is essential and every dancer plays a wonderful and important part in the telling of the story!

I acknowledge and understand the factors that go into casting the ballet. I also understand that casting is the sole decision of PYB's Artistic Staff, and is non-negotiable.
