International Exchange Programme 2020
The Association for Cultural Enterprises and Museum Store Association (MSA) are pleased to continue the international exchange programme between the two organisations. This scholarship initiative is designed to enrich our two communities through the exchange of ideas and learning in cultural trading.

The exchange programme offers a unique opportunity to make new international contacts, enhance your professional development, and promote your organisation overseas.

One candidate will be chosen from the United Kingdom (a member of the Association for Cultural Enterprises) to attend and present a seminar session at MSA FORWARD 2020 in Cleveland, Ohio, on 23-27 April 2020. Similarly, one candidate from the United States (an MSA institutional member) will attend and present at the Association for Cultural Enterprises' Conference, which will be held 18-20 March 2020 in Harrogate.

Selected candidates will receive complementary round trip airfare and three (3) hotel nights paid for by the host association.

The Association for Cultural Enterprises candidate will be selected by the MSA Board of Directors and will be required to present a 60 minute session at MSA FORWARD 2020, as well as write one (1) MSA blog pre-event and one (1) Museum Store Magazine article post-event. The MSA candidate will be selected by the Association for Cultural Enterprises judging panel and will be required to present a 30 minute session at the Association for Cultural Enterprises conference, as well as write two (2) blog posts pre- and post-event.

The proposed session for Association for Cultural Enterprises and MSA must meet the following criteria:
• Presents a topic or case study that demonstrates thought leadership in museum retail.
• Presents an innovative project or a solution to a common museum retail issue.
• Presents a topic commercially relevant with educational value, including real-life experience and examples.

Applicants should select one of the following topics related to cultural retail:
• Product development
• Ethical trading / fair trade
• Visual merchandising
• Licensing
• Ecommerce
• Maximising profit
• Shop fit / remodel or relocation
• Pop-up shops
• Working with designers / makers
• Buying trends
• Understanding the customer
• Marketing and communications
• Strategic management

All applications are due no later than Friday 30 August 2019.
