Advocacy Workshop with Arts Alliance Illinois
Monday, February 18, 6 – 7:30 p.m.
League of Chicago Theatres, 17 N. Wabash, Suite 520
With the Mayoral and Aldermanic Election right around the corner, advocacy must be center stage for your theatre. We explain why and answer the who, what, when, where, and how in this workshop. Whatever your role is within the theatre community, you should prepare yourself with these important arts advocacy tools.
Training take-aways include:
* Why advocacy is essential for artists and arts organizations
* Who can engage in advocacy and the in-bound and out-of-bound activities for nonprofits
* What to expect when you engage decision-makers and elected officials
* How to speak with them (and others) persuasively to advance your advocacy goals
Presented by Jonathan VanderBrug from Arts Alliance Illinois, this training includes role plays, stories and lessons learned from advocacy experiences.
