HCHR-WA Sign-On Letter
Dear Health Care Advocates,

With Congress set to reconvene on April 20th and with more bailout bills in the works, there is an urgent need for our state’s Congressional delegation to hear from us. WA’s Representatives Pramila Jayapal and Adam Smith and 78 other members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus have released a set of five principles that should guide the crafting of any relief packages.

In an effort to uplift leadership around issues most critical to the American people, Health Care Is a Human Right WA has crafted a sign-on letter to WA State's Congressional delegation (House and Senate) in support of these 5 principles.

Please sign on to support these principles in the letter below by providing your organization and authorizing representative for the organization following the letter.

The Letter
Dear Washington State Delegation,

With Congress set to reconvene on April 20th and with more bailout bills urgently needed, we want to make sure you are hearing from us. The HCHR Campaign is a grassroots community-labor campaign with the goal of securing the fundamental right to health care for all individuals in Washington State & our nation.

The House Congressional Progressive Caucus has released a set of five principles that should guide the crafting of any relief packages and we urge you to follow these principles as well:

1.   Health is a top priority, for all people, with no exceptions.

2.   Provide economic relief directly to the people.

3.   Rescue workers and communities, not corporate executives.

4.   Make a down payment on a regenerative economy, while preventing future crises.

5.   Protect our democratic process while protecting each other.

Health care should be a right for all people in this country, including free and accessible testing and treatment. The best way to restart the economy is to get money into the hands of the people who will spend it, and relief should go directly to the people for the duration of the recession. When targeting specific industries, we need to provide relief directly to the workers. When targeting job creation, we need to rebuild our infrastructure, replace lead pipes, expand wind and solar power, build clean and affordable public transit, weatherize our buildings, build and repair public housing, manufacture more clean energy goods, restore our wetlands and forests, expand public services that support climate resilience, and support regenerative agriculture led by family farmers. To protect our democracy, we need to guarantee the ability of all voters in the US vote-by-mail this November.

Sincerely,
