Dr. Marian C. Shivers Scholarship - Leadership Development Institute

Dr. Marian C. Shivers (1943 – 2019) co-founded the NCBAA Leadership Development Institute in 2002 and served as its Dean for seventeen years. Dr. Shivers is best known for her tenacious commitment to the mission of cultivating African-American leaders, many of whom now serve in executive leadership positions at community colleges across the nation. Over her lifetime, Dr. Shivers received accolades for diversifying the face of community college leadership. Among the honors and awards in her name, the LDI class of 2007 established this scholarship to honor Dr. Shivers.

Dr. Shivers' vision, passion, and dedication live on through NCBAA, LDI Alumni, and her colleagues. In that spirit, the Executive Board of NCCBAA welcomes your application for the Dr. Marian C. Shivers Scholarship for the 2026 Leadership Development Institute. The ideal candidate:

  • would benefit from financial assistance.
You may upload up to 3 artifacts to support your application (e.g. awards, letters of recommendation, significant projects or initiatives led).

The deadline for submitting a scholarship application is June 5, 2026. Notification of awards will occur on or before June 30, 2026. Be mindful that a scholarship application is not a substitute for the timely submission of the LDI registration and payment.
