When will I find out if I was cast?
We will let people know by email either way within 2 weeks of audition.
What happens if I am cast?
There will be a mandatory onboarding meeting on Zoom with additional information, and then you will start rehearsing immediately. The first long-form show is Feb 22nd, 2026 at 6p.
How many long form teams does Misfit have?For 2026, Misfit will have 4 long form teams, all coached by different coaches with different rehearsal days.
What's in it for me?
A
chance to perform regularly with a team in front of a live audience and
receive coaching. Misfit will also provide the venue, marketing, the
coach, your other team members, show production, a ticketing system,
bar, and show staff.
How long is the commitment?
In theory, a year, and Misfit reserves the right to dissolve, rearrange,
and/or build new teams if a particular team is not demonstrating consistent growth, engagement, or alignment with our community standards.
What are the requirements to audition?
None!
We're holding open auditions for 2026. While we would love it if you
had improv and/or theater experience and will take that into
consideration, it won't be necessary for you to be considered for a
Misfit team.
Can I be in more than one ensemble?
You’re welcome to audition for both long form and short form, but you’ll only be placed in one of those ensembles. Music improv is separate, so you may also be cast in the music ensemble in addition to either a long form or short form team.
Will everyone be cast?
Unfortunately,
no. We'll be holding open auditions and looking for players for four
different teams. With that in mind, we will do what we can to get as
many people in ensembles as possible. That being said, this is a part
time gig for all Misfit staff. We'll build ensembles based on the amount
of people we can effectively manage, and we won't put you on an
ensemble if we don't think you are ready.
Where will the shows be?
Currently all Misfit ensemble shows will be held at NC Stage, 15 Stage Ln, Asheville, NC 28801. We are always looking for venues that meet the needs of particular shows. So the venue is subject to change.
When will the shows be?
Long Form teams will perform once a month on their own Long Form night. Shows nights are subject to venue availability.
When are rehearsals?
Misfit Performance Ensembles rehearse once a month for two hours. The rehearsal schedules are listed below, so please only select the ensembles whose rehearsal times you can reliably attend.
What is the financial commitment to coaches?
You will pay your coach directly, $10/pp.You need a minimum of 4 people at rehearsal.If you are going to cancel rehearsal, you must alert your coach within 24 hours.
If I miss rehearsal, can I still play the show?
If you miss the monthly rehearsal and your team is playing a show that month, no you cannot be in the show. Please don't ask to be the exception.
If I miss a rehearsal, do I still need to pay my coach?
If
your team has met their minimum without you or canceled rehearsal
before the 24 cut off, then no, you shouldn't need to pay your coach if
you miss rehearsal.
If you did not let your team know within 24 hours that you would be missing rehearsal, then yes, you should still chip in.
What if we don't meet the minimum and need to cancel rehearsal?
That's
fine. Just let your coach know within 24 hours or you still need to pay
them. You will also need reschedule so your ensemble meets the once a
month rehearsal commitment.
