*** By filling out this form, you are NOT "fully registered and ready to play" and you are NOT guaranteed a spot to play. This Google form is the first step where we gather information about who is interested in playing. ***
Experience: No previous water polo experience necessary, but players should be strong swimmers.
Equipment: Players do NOT need to buy or bring any "water polo related equipment". The water polo cap (shows what team you are on, your number, and ear protectors) will be provided to you at the event. All you need to bring is a swimsuit, a towel, and goggles. Players with long hair often wear a swim cap underneath their water polo cap - if you want to wear a swim cap, then please bring that too.
Non-HOA Players: Players who are NOT Broadlands HOA residents can play in this event, but some restrictions apply. More details below.
Spots are limited: We are limited to 30 players maximum, so there might be a waitlist if more people want to play than we can allow. More details below.
Multiple players in one family: If you would like to register multiple players, then please fill out the form once per player. Using the same email address multiple times is fine. There is no family discount.
Coaches: There will be 3 coaches for the event who will be on the pool deck and in the water leading instruction and playing in the scrimmage. All coaches will be actively registered with American Water Polo as coaches (background check, certifications, etc):
- Tom Hallett
- Bubu Tudor
- Strahinja Raskovic
Waitlist: Because we have to balance a few factors, this is NOT a first-come first-serve registration process:
- Broadlands HOA members with an active pool pass will receive priority over non-HOA members.
- The event will have various ages (10 to adult), co-ed, and will have absolute beginners with very experienced players. We will try to balance the 30 players based on these factors so that it is a fun and engaging experience for everyone.
- For non-HOA members who are selected to play, they will need a guest pass from one of the other players. The organizers will assist in this process, so it should not be an issue.
Detailed Registration Process & Timeline:
- August 4th @ 11:59pm: Deadline to fill out this Google form.
- August 6th: We will notify people if they can play (with info on what to do next), or if they are on the waitlist.
- August 12th @ 11:59pm: Deadline for players to fully register. This includes things like, but is not limited to: pay the $15 fee, sign the HOA waiver and photo release. If a player does not complete these steps by this deadline, their spot will be forfeited.
- August 14th: If any players missed the August 12 deadline and forfeited their spot, we will begin notifying people(s) on the waitlist to try and fill those spots.
- August 20th @ 11:59pm: Deadline for any wait-list players we notified to pay the $15 fee, HOA waivers, etc.
American Water Polo: All players will be registered as athletes with American Water Polo for this event. American Water Polo is providing the liability insurance for the event.
Players under 18: For players under 18, a parent/guardian is required to stay during the event - this is NOT a drop-off event.
2 safety rules:- You may wear goggles during the swim warm up, but goggles are NOT allowed during the water polo portion of the event.
- Players must wear the water polo cap during the water polo portion of the event.
Spectators: The general public is welcome to watch the event and learn more about water polo! Spectators are free and they do NOT need to be an HOA resident or member to watch. All spectators will need to vacate the pool at the end of the event, so the pool can open like normal.
The Pool: The pool is NOT open for swimming during this event. The pool will still open at its normal operating hours, which is noon for a Sunday. (The pool is being opened early for this event).
Photos: Photos will be taken at the event. See photo disclaimer: https://www.broadlandshoa.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Photo-disclaimer.pdf
