One of the things that makes the University of Washington (UW) unique is our system of shared governance. We believe in the importance of student and faculty involvement in making personnel decisions, selecting administrators, preparing the budget, and helping set university-wide policy.

About the council:
The Faculty Council on Academic Standards (FCAS) is one of the UW's eleven (11) councils that study and make recommendations to the UW's Faculty Senate, Senate Executive Committee, UW president, and regents on academic affairs such as admissions policy, scholastic standards, graduation requirements, and inter-institutional academic standards.

Your responsibilities:
- Serve as the ASUW's representative to FCAS
- Attend all FCAS meetings during your appointed academic session
- Work with the ASUW director of university affairs and members of the ASUW Student Senate to ensure that appropriate actions are pursed towards fulfilling resolutions of student opinion relating to academic affairs.
