Forgotten Figures
It is easy an individual's story to be lost in the ever rowing narrative that is our community's history. This is especially true when that individual is a member of a marginalized group.

As part of our effort to commemorate local African Americans during the 2019 Black History Month celebration, we invite you to share the story of an African American man or woman who lived in Shenandoah County and had an impact on your life. Fill out the form below with as much information about that person's life as you know. Paper surveys are also available at the Shenandoah County Library.

Submissions will be highlighted during our Black History Month Program held at 6:30PM on Tuesday February 19th at the library.

Photographs of these individuals and any historic documents, artifacts, etc. from their life are also welcome. To arrange a donation of such materials contact Shenandoah County Library's Archivist Zachary Hottel at (540)984-8200 or zhottel@countylib.org.
