A large part of the success that we had thus far with our teams has been through leveraging the diverse array of ACADEMIC backgrounds of the students that come through our program. Along the same vein, we believe that improving the overall diversity of our students will further enrich our program; afford those who may be discouraged from joining an opportunity to learn and grow as entrepreneurs, leaders, thinkers, and creators; and lead to more successful teams. In response, we have decided to create the Chair of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) to our executive board and are looking for candidates who share a passion in the healthcare field, entrepreneurship, and DEI. DEI Chair key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:- Identifying external trends/best practices for diversity recruitment and retention- Supporting and guiding the recruitment process to appeal to diverse applicants and remove biases- Creating and implementing DEI training across the organization- Building partnerships/relationships with appropriate student groups and professional organizations at WashUand in the STL community- Reviewing organization policies and procedures to ensure inclusivity
DEI Chair preferred (not required) qualifications:- Strong collaborator and communicator possessing good interpersonal skills- Passion for healthcare, entrepreneurship, or innovation- Prior experience or desire to lead through influence - Prior experience or desire to cultivate strong relationships across stakeholder groups- Prior knowledge or desire to learn and execute on DEI best practices and/or initiatives
