EXTANT excursions bring together sound makers and listeners through workshops, field trips, and lectures. They foster community, knowledge exchange, listening practices and explore sound collectively in different contexts and perspectives.

Excursion#7 - Telinga Parabolic microphone

During this excursion we'll explore the Telinga parabolic microphone, a specialized setup for capturing distant, focused sounds. Learn how parabolic recording works, practice mic handling techniques, and explore its creative potential in field recording. Ideal for sound artists, nature recordists, and anyone curious about precise, high-directionality audio capture. You'll have the chance to test the Telinga with a Schoeps CMC6 + MK2H omnidirectional microphone as well as with DPA 4060, LOM Usi and/or your own small diaphragm microphone. No prior experience required—just curiosity and a good pair of ears.

To cover rental costs we ask for a contribution of 10 Euros or pay what you can.
