Due to cuts in North Somerset Council's budget, Long Ashton Library will be closing in autumn 2018. In its place, North Somerset Council will provide a mobile library service for two afternoons per week, with some services that are currently available at Long Ashton Library.
A working group from the community and Long Ashton Parish Council has been set up to investigate whether the residents of the parish want additional services for an additional cost. The purpose of this questionnaire is to understand what provision residents would like in the future, if any. This is to inform the Parish Council going forward.
Our library is currently open 16.5 hours per week. Below is a list of services currently provided, most of which are for free. It is likely that most of these services will not be available in the mobile library.• Access to 3,974 adult books and 2,708 children’s books,• 183 audio books• 146 children’s audio books• Access to interlibrary loan• 296 DVDs• Book group• Computers• Scanning, fax, wi-fi, printing and photocopying • Children’s groups e.g. Rhyme Time and Story Time• Children’s summer reading challenge• Home Choice (details of local social housing)• A phone line to North Somerset Council• Radar keys for access to disabled toilets in North Somerset• A public toilet • Local information e.g. footpath walks and bus timetables• Local history documents• Parish Council minutes and agendas• Large planning applications• Home library service• Meeting room/study space
