Brief Description of Global Guide Position
General Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide preliminary guidance to students about applying for and participating in SDSU’s global education opportunities (study abroad, exchange, international internships/volunteering, virtual international programs)
• Communicate to students what they can expect when planning their program.
• Answer general telephone and email inquiries about global education and scheduling appointments with advisors
• Present information meetings about global education opportunities and conduct brief class presentations
• Assist in maintaining the study abroad resource library
• Assist with marketing global education opportunities to SDSU students
• General office work as required: word processing, designing flyers etc.
• Work as a team with other Global Guides involved in completing various projects
• In-depth research of global education opportunities
• Supervise work area in absence of Global Education Advisor
• Data entry & compile reports as requested

Qualifications:
• Must be willing to learn; have a positive attitude; patient; high-energy, proactive, friendly, responsible and enthusiastic
• Willing to investigate and familiarize self with a host of global education opportunities and make referrals when necessary
• Willing to learn and navigate student and program database (Aztecs Abroad)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; Strong interpersonal skills
• Must be comfortable with public speaking to groups of various sizes
• Good clerical skills including familiarization with Microsoft Office and answering office phones
• Ability to keep punctual and consistent working hours
• Must be able to multi-task and work independently

Preferences, but not required for employment:
• Commitment to work long-term (one academic year or longer)
• Knowledge of graphic design programs such as Adobe Photoshop
• Ability to use Powerpoint, Google slides, or other presentation creation program/s
• Experience moderating online groups, posting social media notices, and replying to social media comments.
• Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp or GroupMe, WordPress (or similar)
• Proficiency in second language (bilingual)
