Connecting Families WI - Impact Stories
Over the past few decades, private and public actors have found ways to exploit our criminal legal system and those it touches. One-way incarcerated people and their families are exploited is through the cost of staying connected. 1 in 3 people with an incarcerated loved one go into debt to stay connected and 87% of those carrying the burden are women. At Worth Rises, we are fighting to make prison and jail communications costs free through our Connecting Families campaigns. So far, we've saved families almost $300 million and have passed this legislation in 5 states (CT, CA, CO, MN, and MA).

We are looking for testimonials from those directly impacted by the high cost of communication in Wisconsin. Tell us your truths, share your stories, and elevate the facts to help us educate the public and build a movement to fight back against exploitative communications costs. With your help, we can make prison communications free in Wisconsin!
