Laurel Nava

Current parent of a 5th grader and a 1st grader. I served on the School Site Council in 2020-21. My husband is a teacher in a different local district and I work for a nonprofit organization supporting K-12 technology staff in California public schools.  My entire career has been focused on supporting K-12, especially in the area of school finance. I enjoyed my time on the council and would appreciate the chance to help support the students, teachers, and staff at Phoebe Hearst again!

Juan Carlos Lemus

1 child at Phoebe Hearst – 4th grade

2 years experience with SSC

I am a Phoebe Hearst parent who not only has care and concern for my own child’s educational experience but also that of her schooling environment and her classmates. Being part of SSC is important to me as a parent as it provides an opportunity for insight to the academic progress of the collective Phoebe Hearst students and the school. Especially any groups of students that struggle in certain academic areas that may require additional attention and help. In addition to my personal commitment to learning more about where and how students’ educational needs can be improved, I can also apply my own skill set to discuss, create and produce needed results. I’d appreciate being strongly considered as a parent member of the Phoebe Hearst School Site Council for the 2023-2024 academic year. Thank you!

Jason Hechtkopf

"Hi there. My name is Jason Hechtkopf. My 5-year-old son Hunter just started Kindergarten at Phoebe last month. I also have a 3-year-old son, so this whole parenting school thing is kind of new to me. We moved to the area two years ago from Virginia Beach, Virginia. I work as a Special Projects Reporter at KCRA and have been a reporter for nearly two decades. Even though I'm new to the school process I do know I want to be involved. I hope to be member of the SSC, because I want to be part of the process in making sure our kids continue to get the best education. We know those who have served on the Phoebe Hearst council in the past laid a tremendous foundation and I want to help build on it."
