Your son/daughter will be taking Health Education during this school year. As part of the Human Sexuality unit, wewill be including the following outcomes:
The student will understand the components and functions of the male and female reproductive systems.The student will understand the various methods of birth control including abstinence, over-the-counter andprescription forms of birth control. Students will review the advantages and disadvantages of each method.The student will appreciate the prevalence and seriousness of the various sexually transmitted infections and willlearn methods of prevention, control and treatment.
Special Note: All freshman students will attend a series of workshops presented by Teen PEP (prevention educationprogram). Sexual health topics include postponing sexual involvement, abstinence, birth control, sexuallytransmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, date rape, sexual harassment and homophobia reduction.
If you would like your son/daughter excluded from this aspect of our Human Sexuality unit based on your family’spersonal values or beliefs, please complete this form within five days of receipt. An alternate health assignment will be scheduled in such cases.
