Investigating History Curriculum Launch
Audience: Teachers and instructional leaders new to the curriculum
Participants in this one-day, in-person summer institute engage in learning experiences to understand the inquiry and investigation approach of the Investigating History curriculum as a whole as well as the particular content and skills of Unit 1 of the grade 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 curriculum. Educators have time and support to engage individually and collectively in practical exercises that will leave them feeling ready and confident to implement this program at the start of the school year.

Thursday, August 20 | 9-3From Summative to Showcase: Redesign Summative Assessments to Increase Authenticity and RelevanceAudience: Educators experienced in the curriculum looking to redesign an Investigating History unit to maintain its integrity while working toward building a showcase-ready product
Participants in this interactive one-day session use straightforward protocols and field-tested models for adapting summative assessments in order to increase authenticity and relevance to students. They engage with tools that support student agency and collaboration and then have ample time to work independently and collaboratively to use these tools to adapt a summative assessment to create an authentic task aligned to the goals of the unit.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certification of completion. Participants who complete both days are eligible for 10 PDPs.
