    Course Description

This will be a Forest-wide exercise with the intended audience being anyone who will be helping to prepare or approve WFDSS documents this year, either at the District or Forest level. As in the past, we would also like to take the opportunity to extend the invitation to our partners at ODF, BLM, NPS, and neighboring Forests to participate as well. It is highly recommended that as many non-fire employees as possible be proficient at WFDSS. Experience has shown that when we get busy, fire folks are usually not available and majority of the WFDSS work gets done by our 'militia'. The agenda will be similar to previous years: the day will start with a short briefing then each District will be given approximately 3-4 hours to prepare a WFDSS decision for a simulated fire. At around 1000, Agency Administrators will leave the WFDSS exercise and have a separate meeting to discuss a variety of Line Officer/Agency Administrator topics. At the end of the day the Agency Administrators will rejoin the WFDSS exercise and each Ranger District will be asked to give a brief presentation on their WFDSS decision.
