The Gay Freedom Band of Los Angeles (GFBLA) Board of Directors, Artistic Directors, and Staff are happy to announce that this year we have an opportunity to march in the Los Angeles and Long Beach Pride Parades.
After a two-year hiatus, we are excited to share our musical talent, march with pride, and promote our visibility in Southern California. There are two marching performance opportunities coming up and we need to gauge your interest and availability to help us plan these important events.
1) LA Pride 2022 (June 10-12, 2022): Because of the onset of COVID-19 in 2020, LA Pride did not have the opportunity to celebrate the parade’s 50th anniversary. This year as the parade moves forward in its new route and location, it will be broadcast live by the longtime media partner KABC-TV/ABC7. The second largest Pride parade in the nation will now be centered in Hollywood, a historic shift away from West Hollywood in the 50+ years since the parade became a regular occurrence. This year's Pride parade will commemorate the historic anniversary at the original location of the first permitted gay parade in the world. GFBLA has its roots marching in the LA Pride Parade dating back 1978 when then the Great American Yankee Freedom Band of Los Angles led the annual Gay Pride Parades.
