In Fall 2020, the MIT Physics Department will launch a pilot mentoring program for undergraduate students. This is based on the highly-successful mentoring program that was launched in 8.02 in Spring 2020:

-- Provide course-based academic support to undergraduate students in ๐ด.๐ฌ๐ญ๐, ๐ด.๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฎ, ๐ด.๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ญ, ๐ด.๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฎ, ๐ด.๐ฌ๐ฏ, ๐ด.๐ฌ๐ฏ๐ฏ, ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ด.๐ฌ๐ฐ (mentoring for 8.01 and 8.02 will be handled separately by Peter Dourmashkin)
-- Build mentor-mentee relationships as a means to connect mentees with institutional resources and build community within the department
-- Establish a โcommunity of practiceโ, where student mentors are partners in the academic mission of the department

-- Be matched with ~2 mentees
-- Participate in a pre-training session the week before classes
-- Commit to ~4 hours per week = 1 hour x 2 mentees + 1 hour prep + 1 hour weekly "community of practice" meeting
-- Be paid a stipend of ~$840
Both undergraduate students and graduate students are encouraged to apply for mentor positions.
