COVID Performers Initiative - Sign-up
Due to the current pandemic and social distancing measures, residents of long-term care homes, retirement homes and other healthcare institutions have had to restrict and/or halt their usual therapeutic recreation programming as well as restrict family and friend visits and group activities, leading to a large reduction in social interaction. With this imposed social isolation, residents are prone to experiencing feelings of loneliness.

The purpose of COVID Performers is to combat this social isolation by connecting students with varying talents with these institutions to schedule virtual live performances on a 1-on-1 or small group basis. Ideas include playing live piano performances, hosting a virtual paint night, magic trick displays, or simply having a conversation. These activities can be anywhere from 15min to several hours. If you feel that you aren't comfortable performing, these institutions are also looking for students to simply have conversations with their residents.

If you are interested, please fill out the form below! You will be contacted and connected with a long-term care home in order to participate in their therapeutic recreation programming.

We are currently working with multiple long-term care homes from Kingston, Ottawa, London, Hamilton, Toronto and Vancouver, and are always looking to spread this initiative to even more. If you know of any institutions that might be interested, please let them know about this or email covidperformers@gmail.com.
