Social Investment Conference

‘Social investment’ refers to finance provided for voluntary and community groups and social enterprises by investors who expect to both get their investment back and to create social impact.

We're running a conference with Harrow Council which will provide a detailed introduction to social investment, the types of investment available and the approaches you should take.

If your organisation needs to generate income, source funds to help provide services to local communities, or to expand and build capacity, then come a long and find out whether social Investment is right for your organisation and how to access this new source of finance.

Hear from industry experts and investors, participate in discussions and workshops and learn from organisations that have used social investment to generate income and provide services that benefit local people.

Topics covered on the day include:
- The role that social investment can play in helping charities and social enterprises develop new ways of earning income.
- Examples of how charities are using social investment.
- Types of investment and where to go for support.
- The Social Investment Journey - from an initial enquiry to being in receipt of an investment loan
- Funding options for community businesses to become sustainable and deliver social impact.

Keynote speakers:
Seb Holdsworth, CEO, Access - The Foundation for Social Investment, which specialises in helping charities and social enterprises to access social investment and also provides small grants and loans.

Natalia Fernandez, Investment Manager, Big Issue Invest – the social investment arm of the Big Issue, which invests £20,000 and £3million in social enterprises and charities involved in helping to tackle poverty.

Kate Stewart, Director of Programme, Power to Change – with a £150 million endowment from the Big Lottery Fund, Power to Change supports community businesses set up by local people to address local challenges and deliver social impact.
