Join us for a film, discussion and writing project based on excerpts from the PBS documentary American Creed. This film, featuring former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, historian David Kennedy and a diverse group of Americans explores whether a unifying set of beliefs, an American creed, can prove more powerful than the issues that divide us. We will meet at Southworth Library to discuss aspects of the film and our responses on
Tuesday March 26- part 1 and Tuesday April 2 at 7 pm part 2
We will recognize writing submissions to the writing contest at our last viewing and discussion meeting on Thursday April 25 at 7pm with Dr. David Franke, director of the Seven Valleys National Writing Project. Two winners will be chosen in three categories: under 12 years old, 12 – 18 and over 18. Winners will receive a $50 Amazon card.
Writing may respond to the following prompts and should be 300-500 words in length. All writers are welcome.

 What is your American creed?
 How does your family and community connections to your American creed?
 How do words symbols or rituals express the American creed?
 How do diverse Americans understand the American creed?
 How can you express your American creed through action?

Writing may be submitted from April 2 to April 15 and must be in .pdf or .doc format to
