Rally for Public Integrity Candidate Questionnaire
Grassroots Integrity Presents:

A Rally for Public Integrity
Saturday, Oct. 21 @ 2-3 pm
22 Market Street, Poughkeepsie

Why are we holding a rally?

While going door-to-door over the last few months, it has become clear to us that many citizens feel that their voices are not being heard. For decades, most of the elected positions in our local and county government have been dominated by a single party that does not represent the constituency.

Many voters in Dutchess County are frustrated by a lack of transparency, accountability, and the appearance of widespread corruption, manifesting as policies advancing special interests over the needs of constituents.

During our time canvassing, citizens across many political persuasions voiced support for campaign finance reform, which is desperately needed to combat the rampant “pay-to-play” corruption that plagues our local government offices.

Legislation curbing political donations from companies that enter into contracts with county government was passed by the Orange County Legislature in 2013. It is inexplicable why the Dutchess County Legislature refused to seriously consider a nearly identical resolution. There is a clear disconnect between the will of the people and the majority party that supposedly represents them.

We are looking to identify candidates who are willing to join this cause by pledging:

1) They will neither seek nor accept campaign contributions from companies that do business with county or local government; and

2) They will actively work to advance and pass legislation to end corruption and make local government transparent to all.

If you are a candidate running for local office in Dutchess County, and are interested in participating in the Rally and/or identifying yourself with this cause, please fill out the questionnaire below.

If you are unable to attend, but would like to be identified with this cause, let us know!

We recognize that the Rally is an interruption to canvassing activities and that some candidates may not be able to attend. With your permission, we would like to feature you in press releases and on other materials publicizing the event, including our website, which is currently under development.

If you have any questions, please email us at admin@grassrootsintegrity.org
