2022-2023 Academic Decathlon Letter Of Intent
Chicago Public Schools believes that principal and coach engagement and investment in the program is critical to the success of the Academic Decathlon. As such, the Chicago Public Schools asks for principals and coaches to commit to being active participants in all aspects of the Decathlon. The Academic Decathlon school selection process consists of demonstrating that your school will be an active participant in the Decathlon season. Participation in Academic Decathlon is contingent on your commitment to the following terms:

Terms/Expectations
1. School must provide the necessary funding to supply study materials for decathletes and order directly from USAD; for those that did not request ASPEN (approximately $750.00 for a complete set)
2. Ensure coaches attend the PP session on Oct 18, 2022 (via Google Meet from 4:30-6:30 p.m.);
3.    Ensure the team is registered and has submitted all pertinent paperwork by the deadline;

5. Ensure the team has 6-9 decathletes registered in ASPEN by the deadline;
6. Ensure that a minimum of 6 decathletes register and compete at the competitions;
7. Review and sign your coach’s Payroll Forms for accuracy and ensure they are submitted by deadlines;
8. Ensure coaches meet with students for up to the recommended four hours per week;
9. Encourage your school staff to volunteer for Saturday competitions;
10. Ensure coaches enter student practice and competition time in Cityspan every week;
11. Submit all payroll forms to Central Office after First Round, City and State competitions.
