2023-2024 DR. DIONEL AVILÉS '53 AND DR. JAMES JOHNSON '67 FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM (Doctoral and Master's Nomination Round Selection)
Texas A&M University believes that diversity is an indispensable component of academic excellence. The Dr. Dionel Avilés ’53 and Dr. James Johnson ’67 Fellowship Program seeks to increase diversity in the graduate and professional student population at Texas A&M and support the development of high achieving scholars who show promise of distinguished careers for the benefit of all students.

For the 2023-2024 Avilés-Johnson competition, Texas A&M University Departments and Interdisciplinary Degree Programs (IDPs) will need to identify which round they would like to submit doctoral nominations (maximum 15) and/or master's nominations (maximum 5).

Example: If a department wants to submit doctoral nominations and master's nominations in Round 1, submissions for Round 2 will not be accepted. A department can, however, submit doctoral nominations in Round 1 and then master's nominations in Round 2.
  • ROUND 1 nomination deadline - February 1, 2023 (5pm CST)
  • ROUND 2 nomination deadline - March 1, 2023 (5pm CST)
THE DEADLINE TO DECIDE WHICH ROUND TO SUBMIT DOCTORAL AND/OR MASTER'S NOMINATIONS IS MONDAY, JANUARY 23, 2023. Please provide the following information, below, to inform us of your department's or IDP's decision.
