PATRIOT NJROTC APPLICATION
Thank you for your interest in the Patriot NJROTC program hosted at Governor Thomas Johnson High School.

This basic application is required for all new and returning cadets for the upcoming school year (SY 2018-19), including students enrolled at Governor Thomas Johnson High School, students enrolled at other FCPS high schools, students transitioning from home-based or private schools, and students moving into Frederick County.

Applying for the Patriot NJROTC program is more than just signing up for an elective. The program serves as a Leadership Academy for those who desire to develop themselves as leaders and who are eager to serve in a series of leadership roles of increasing scope and complexity. In addition to classwork, the program encompasses opportunities to participate in one or more of our co-curricular teams, to take part in orientation trips, and to perform service within the school and community.

Application timelines:

Applications for the 2018-19 school year are now being accepted. Students will be notified of their acceptance via e-mail within 2 weeks of their application.

Students wishing to transfer full time (or renew their transfer) to Governor Thomas Johnson High School (out-of-district students) are strongly encouraged to submit their applications no later than Friday, March 16th, 2018, in order to meet the central office's windows for approving student transfers for the upcoming school year (1 Apr - 31 May for new transfers; 1 Apr - 1 May for renewed transfers).

For all other students (TJ students and those from other FCPS high schools wishing to retain their home school status), admissions applications will be accepted up until August 1st, 2018. Although rolling admissions will run throughout the summer, students should apply as early as possible. Early acceptance allows students to be offered opportunities to participate in summer activities. Our program is also growing every year and in the event that we reach program capacity for any particular course-level, acceptance will be on a first-come, first-serve basis among the best-qualified applicants.
