Decoupled Days 2022: Call for Papers
Thank you for your interest in proposing a session for Decoupled Days, the only non-profit, community-led, and volunteer-run conference dedicated to the future of content management systems and CMS architectures! We can't do this without your content, so we appreciate the time and effort you spend in crafting every proposal.

This call for papers is for the sixth edition of Decoupled Days, to take place in person at John Jay College in New York on the dates of August 17–18, 2022. We're looking for 25- and 50-minute sessions which deal with topics in the following five tracks:

• The Traditional CMS track will cover the use of traditional or monolithic CMS (e.g. Drupal, WordPress) as a content service and the range of architectures in decoupling traditional or monolithic CMSs. Topics include Drupal web services (e.g. JSON:API and GraphQL in Drupal, WP-API and GraphQL in WordPress), recommended architectures and frameworks, techniques, and the surrounding decoupled Drupal and headless WordPress ecosystems (e.g. Contenta, WPGraphQL, Decoupled Menus Initiative).

• The Headless CMS track will cover decoupled and headless CMS technologies. Topics include web services (e.g. GraphQL, REST APIs), headless CMS (Contentful, Prismic, Sanity, GraphCMS, Strapi), and other decoupled or headless CMS architectures and tools (e.g. Apollo). For Drupal and WordPress topics, see the Traditional CMS track.

• The JavaScript and Jamstack track will cover modern JavaScript and its use in decoupled CMS architectures. Topics include universal JavaScript, server-side rendering, Node.js and ES2015 techniques, frameworks and libraries (e.g. React, Vue, Svelte), static site generators (e.g. Gatsby, Gridsome, Hugo), Jamstack architectures and hosting (e.g. Netlify, Vercel), and other JavaScript technologies (e.g. TypeScript).

• The People and Community track will cover the personal and community dimensions of decoupled CMS, including issues of equity, justice, inclusion, accessibility, and mental health. Topics include diversity, equity, inclusion, decolonization, accessibility, culture and ethics, governance, codes of conduct, and event organizing. Other topics include health and well-being, personal and professional growth, and empathy and communication.

• The Business/CXO track will cover decoupled CMS in the business, consultancy, and client landscape. Topics include case studies of successful implementations, buyer personas, sales and marketing in decoupled CMS, building and scaling your decoupled CMS business, agency and consultancy operations, client and stakeholder decision-making, and business strategy and innovation.

Decoupled Days believes in an inclusive conference and speaker lineup. We particularly encourage members of underrepresented groups, such as women, people of color, LGBTQIA+, trans and GNC folx, disabled people, veterans, neurodivergent people, and economically disadvantaged people, to submit proposals.

Decoupled Days 2022 will be devoting at least 50% of all accepted sessions to speakers of underrepresented groups and 10% of all accepted sessions to first-time speakers. Please indicate anything you would like to note in the Inclusion section of this form.

The deadline for all session submissions has been extended to ***FRIDAY, JULY 1, 2022 at 11:59pm PDT.***

Note: If you already have slides you would like us to review, please e-mail them to decoupleddays [at] gmail [dot] com.
