Machine Learning Basics for Software Engineers

Machine learning has been frequently on the news lately – with very interesting achievements ranging from language translation to self-driving cars. What drives these applications are machine learning models created decades ago. The goal of this lecture is to give a basic overview of the possible machine learning models and how they work. I will present some basic techniques and topics like linear regression, logistic regression, cost functions and gradient descent. These are all required in order to understand more complicated models like neural networks, which also will be briefly presented in this lecture.
