DAMAGE DISCLAIMER: The West Ottawa School district does not carry any insurance coverage for damage to student vehicles and the school district will not assume responsibility for any theft, vandalism, or accidents that occur to student vehicles on school property. Students drive and park on school property at their own risk. The school district provides transportation for students and encourages students to ride school buses.

VEHICLE SEARCHES: To maintain a safe and secure environment, the West Ottawa School District retains the legal authority to search vehicles on school property. School officials may search the interior of a vehicle without a search warrant whenever reasonable suspicion exists that illegal or unauthorized materials may be contained inside. If a search yields illegal or contraband materials, they shall be turned over to legal authorities for ultimate disposition. Failure to permit searches as provided in this policy will be considered grounds for disciplinary action.

Important: Missing a class or leaving school during the school day for any reason without first receiving permission from the office will result in an Unexcused Absence.

STUDENT DRIVING AND REGULATIONS
1. Your vehicle must be registered and must have a valid parking sticker properly displayed in the lower left hand corner of the front windshield. If you change vehicles during the year you must return your old parking sticker in order to be issued a new one. The fee for parking permits is: $25.00. You may pay online on the PREVIOUS WINDOW.
2. Your vehicle must be legally parked in the assigned designated area and you are not to loiter in your parked vehicle or the parking lots during the school day.
3. Reckless driving and speeding endangers the lives of everyone. You will lose your driving privilege if you violate this rule at any time on district properties.
4. The Security Guard and staff will have full authority in the parking lots and you are required to comply with their instructions.
5. You must show your valid driver license and vehicle registration to receive your parking sticker.

ANY VIOLATION OF THE DRIVING RULES WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF YOUR DRIVING PRIVILEGES AND POSSIBLE TRAFFIC FINES.
