Quantum principles are well-known to have driven research into new forms of computing that exploit quantum effects. In this talk, we will take a tour through how this has inspired other quantum technologies such as in quantum sensors and quantum materials. Chemical, magnetic, optical, and gravimetric sensing with incredible precision are becoming possibilities. The ability to measure tiny magnetic fields, alone, opens up potential for navigation systems and human brain scanning. We will describe, in an accessible way, the principle behind some of these technologies and also take a look at how emerging terahertz technology may play a role in some of these areas.
